To mark National Sorry Day, a series of support workshops have been called this Sunday at Mudgin-Gal Aboriginal Women’s Centre  to assist families affected by forced child removal. The workshops will inform families of their legal rights within the care & protection system and will offer a space for the sharing of stories from many perspectives. These workshops will invite the community to share ideas about how to create grass-roots networks of support and empower affected families from the bottom up.

Workshops include:

‘KNOW YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS’ WITH CHERYL ORR | 11.30AM – 1PM

Expert solicitor in care & protection law and member of the Indigenous Issues Committee of NSW Law Society.

SPECIAL GUEST | ‘LIVING THROUGH IT’ WITH AUNTY HAZEL | 1.30 – 2.30PM

Gomeroi Elder & founding member of Grandmothers Against Removals, Gunnedah (GMAR).

‘THE INSIDE VIEW’ WITH DEBRA SWAN | 2.45 – 3.45PM

Former delegate to the FACS Aboriginal Reference Group (NSW) and facilitator.

The day will close with a sandalwood smoking circle.
